Linus Carl Pauling

 Famous Personality of the day:

Linus Carl Pauling

Linus Carl Pauling, also known as one of the 20 greatest scientists of all time by New Scientist, was an American Chemist, Biologist, peace activist and most importantly, a Chemical Engineer. Pauling is also one of the 5 people to have won more than one Nobel Prize. Riveting, right? Because apart from the accolades, Linus was one of the founding fathers of disciplines like quantum chemistry and molecular biology. He was also a big contributor to concepts such as orbital hybridization and elemental electronegativities. Coincidence or not, Linus was actually close friends with Robert Oppenheimer (who we will look into great detail in our later posts)- who gifted Linus a personal collection of minerals!

Having written more than 50 research papers in his lifetime, Pauling was even inducted into the California hall of fame on December 15, 2008- which was actually announced by Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver. In the state of Oregon, February 28 has been named "Linus Pauling Dat", to honor the legend in the hard sciences.

If anything, by the end of this post, we can confirm that Linus has been an absolutely inspirational legend in the science realm; specifically the Chemical Engineering one. It certainly also gives us the inspiration to accomplish as much as we can, while we can; for it would be such personalities' pride to have us be inspired by them.

Anyway, that's all for today, for this weeks "Personality of the day". Stay tuned for more such content, and feel free to send in personal suggestions :)
Happy Learning!
